We are an invitational community.
A warm welcome awaits you at Merthyr Road Uniting Church.
We offer a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, widowed, gay, filthy rich, comfortable, or dirt poor. Regardless of your shape, size and politics … whether you’re sad or celebrating, feeling confident or confused, high on life or down in the dumps – welcome!
Welcome whether you can sing like Pavarotti or can’t carry a note in a bucket. If you’re here because you’re ‘just browsing’, just woke up, just got out of prison, just need to sit a while, or because grandma is visiting and wanted to go to church – come and join us!
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome keep-fit mums, football dads, crying new-borns, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegans and junk-foodies. If you’re addicted or in recovery – welcome, we’ve been there too!
Welcome if you don’t like ‘organised religion’ or you haven’t been to church since little Jack’s baptism. We warmly welcome people who are inked or pierced, or both or neither. If you blew all your money on the horses, if you think the earth is flat, if you work too hard, can’t get work or can’t work, this place is for you.
We offer a special welcome if you could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down your throat as a kid, or got lost on Brunswick Street and wound up at this church by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts, the sad and sorrowful, the overwhelmed … and YOU!
